Research Statement

My proposed MA thesis focuses on the Norse site at L鈥橝nse aux Meadows. I will be studying the excavations conducted there in 1973, 1974, and 1975, focusing on the writings of Swedish archaeologist Bengt Schonb盲ck. I aim to learn Schonb盲ck鈥檚 perspectives of the site and contrast them with the traditional narrative surrounding it. I seek to understand what different insights and explanations he may have had that could change the way we think about L鈥橝nse aux Meadows and the Norse exploration of the Americas.
