Research Statement

My research explores the history of the relationship between the Inuit and museums, with a particular focus on the past seventy-five years. It examines how Inuit involvement in the representation and interpretation of Inuit culture in museum collections and publications has evolved over time. Specifically, I will analyze representations of Inuit culture and perspectives in the Canadian Museum of 贬颈蝉迟辞谤测鈥檚 Mercury Series, its principal publication series for archaeological research, focusing on potential knowledge gaps and biases. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to broader discussions on the decolonization of museums and other cultural institutions, while advocating for more inclusive, accurate and meaningful Inuit representation in educational spaces.
