Research Statement
My research explores ceramics produced in Brittany (France), with a focus on the departments of C么tes-d鈥橝rmor and Finist猫re. Produced on an artisanal scale for local or regional sale, these vessels serve as a proxy for investigating mobility and provisioning practices among Breton fishing crews participating in the French North Atlantic cod fisheries. Through a comparative analysis of ceramics recovered from fisheries sites in northeastern North America (Canada and New England) and from production sites in Northern Brittany, this research integrates archaeometry and other ceramic analyses to illuminate the material expressions of regional Breton identity and the socioeconomic roles of coastal communities within the transatlantic cod fisheries.
