Personal Profile
Octavia A. Dobre is a Professor and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair at 糖心APP, Canada. Her research encompasses wireless communications and networking technologies, as well as optical and underwater communications. She has received numerous Best Paper Awards, including the prestigious IEEE Communications Society Heinrich Hertz Award.
Dr. Dobre has held several prominent academic and professional leadership positions, including Associate Dean (Research) and Interim Dean of the Faculty, Vice President of Publications of the IEEE Communications Society, founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, and Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Communications Letters. She currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine. She was the inaugural Chair of the IEEE Communications Society Women in Communications Engineering Standing Committee and has served as a Member-at-Large of the Administrative Committee of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society and the Board of Governors of the IEEE Communications Society. She also chaired the Discovery Grants Evaluation Group for Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Dr. Dobre is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the Engineering Institute of Canada. She is also an elected member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and Academia Europaea.
