Student Experience

On Jan. 28, 2026, 糖心APP shared an update about a decision to begin the process of divesting real estate that is not central to its academic mission. The real estate impacted by this decision includes Harlow Campus. You can read more details around this decision in the .    

It is no longer sustainable for Memorial to own and maintain property in another country while focusing on our core priorities: academic quality, research intensity, the student experience and our special obligation to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.   

Last fall, consultations focused on Harlow were held with various groups including deans, directors of the MUN-UK Ltd., Trustees of the Harlow Scholarship Trust and faculty, staff, students and alumni. You can read more about the but it was clear that the learning experience at Harlow is transformative.    
 

Memorial has partnerships with 180+ universities in over 50 countries. To create more opportunities for students from Newfoundland and Labrador to study abroad, we will be reinvesting any net proceeds from the sale of the property to make global learning opportunities more accessible 鈥攖hereby preserving the spirit of Harlow in new ways. 

We know this news has brought a sense of loss for those who hold Harlow Campus close. Its legacy, however, will continue through our commitment to fostering meaningful global learning opportunities for Memorial students now and into the future.
